Outbreak of the Corona mutant from South Africa in a Freiburg youth welfare facility

111 children and educators in quarantine

In Freiburg, the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald health department sent 111 people into quarantine on Thursday (March 25th, 2021). The reason is a corona outbreak in child and youth welfare facilities with the even more contagious South African variant of the virus.

According to the city and district, there are 19 confirmed cases. So far, the South African variant has hardly been detected in Freiburg. These are the first official cases to become known in the region. To prevent it from spreading any further, all contact persons were placed in quarantine.
