Outbreak in the hospital, 22 infected, closed ward and all patients transferred

THE EMERGENCY

SAN DONA ‘ Outbreak in Medicine: patients transferred and ward closed for the disinfection. After the rumors that had been chasing each other in the last hours, the confirmation came from the general direction of the Ulss 4 through a note. “
«As part of the screening activity carried out regularly in the Ulss 4 hospitals, on Wednesday a series of Covid-19 positives were detected in the San Donà hospital. The positivity concerns twenty patients and two operators of the medicine unit. The personal company was immediately placed in isolation, patients are being transferred to the Covid-hospital in Jesolo and to local structures used to accommodate covid-positive patients. A section of the medical unit has been closed and will be reactivated as soon as the sanitation has been carried out ».
“ESCAPED” FROM THE PAD

What may have happened in the department headed by Dr. Massimo Rizzi, who took charge of this important unit in 2018, following the retirement of Dr. Mazzanti, is that a patient may have “escaped” the swab, or that it is positivized immediately after admission, thus extending the infection to other patients. More than sixty inmates who have been transferred: in addition to the twenty people brought to Jesolo, there are those who tested negative and were hospitalized in other structures (some were, however, discharged). Given the overload of patients he found himself on Covid-Hospital, the fifth section of infectious diseases, obtained in polyclinics and followed with the support of the Pediatric staff of Portogruaro. «Consequently – explained the general director of Ulss 4, Carlo Bramezza – in Portogruaro, while guaranteeing the services, for a few days we will no longer carry out hospitalizations, which will all be moved to San Donà. As for the medical department, we hope to be able to complete the sanitization operation in a couple of days and to resume normal operations ».
WORRIED LOOKING

It should be remembered that, no later than three days ago, Bramezza said he was worried about the situation contagion which had developed in Eastern Veneto, in particular as regards hospitalizations, to the point of hypothesizing the closure of wards in the hospitals of San Donà and Portogruaro to be allocated to Covid-19 patients. «We hope to have reached the peak», he added yesterday, with the curve that could begin its downward phase. Until a few days ago, despite the increase in hospitalized, Eastern Veneto continued to remain a sort of happy island compared to many other areas of Veneto: better swab-positive ratio with 5% (now doubled) and better percentage of infected people in the RSA population (the data are still good, even if there are now two difficult situations, the Monument to the Fallen of San Donà and the Don Moschetta of Caorle).
