Three years ago, Simon Mingozzi from Fahrwangen AG and Andreas Leuzinger from Zurich traveled to New York again as tourists – and decided to stay. The first vague idea of gaining a foothold in the travel business turned into a well thought-out concept and a professional appearance in 2013. The click on Localike New York clarifies: The two 30-year-olds are serious about doing business with tourists with their new travel service.
Localike – a play on words with “like a local” – works like this: Interested parties fill out a questionnaire online in around 20 minutes and provide detailed information about themselves, their interests, preferences and special requests. You have to choose from criteria such as museums, galleries, architecture, design, theater, dance, music, concerts, history, sport, nature, film locations, TV shows, children’s activities, readings or beauty. In subcategories, for example music, it is again necessary to tick the style – from rock, pop, electro, R&B, jazz to gospel or classical. Under food and drink you indicate your preferences – from sushi to Peruvian. The list of shopping wishes is extensive, as are the personal questions – bargain hunters? Party animal?
