Clause only valid on Mondays
Ousmane Dembélé’s move to PSG is beginning to take shape. After it was reported last week that the top French club was ready to pull the release clause in the winger’s contract with FC Barcelona, which is valid until 2024, the 26-year-old has now given the green light himself. The Catalans already have a successor on the list.
PSG would have to pay 50 million euros for Dembélé’s transfer, half of this amount would go to the player himself, who had built this agreement into his 2022 renewal. At that time, the former 135 million purchase could have gone free of charge, but then accepted a 40 percent reduction in salary. Barça, in turn, showed their gratitude with an exit clause that was manageable by LaLiga standards, which loudly “The Team” stipulates that 50 percent of the transfer fee will go to Dembélé.

A year later, Barcelona can prepare for the winger’s departure, according to them Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano the ex-BVB professional has agreed to a transfer to his home country. The change will therefore take place in a timely manner, as interested clubs must activate the clause by July 31 – in August the amount due would increase to €100m. PSG’s spending would rise to just under €210m – only Arsenal spent more this summer.

FC Barcelona wants ex-FC Bayern professional João Cancelo as Dembélé’s successor
In Barcelona, the reigning Spanish champions are preparing for the exit of the second most expensive purchase in the club’s history. Dembélé had regained some of his form last season and was involved in the title with five goals and seven assists despite a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for almost three months.
In order to replace the key player, the Blaugrana are looking into João Cancelo again, according to Romano. The 29-year-old was already an issue at Barça at the beginning of the summer and is considered a sales candidate at Manchester City after his loan end at FC Bayern. In view of the alleged differences with Pep Guardiola, which are said to have led to a temporary farewell to Munich in the winter, the Citizens should not insist on a too high transfer fee. Iván Fresneda (18) from Real Valladolid is also reportedly an issue for the Catalans.
For Barcelona, a transfer in both cases would mean the first big expenses this summer. So far, Ilkay Gündogan (32) – also from Man City – and Iñigo Martínez (32) have come free of charge, for Oriol Romeu 3.4 million euros were due. On the disposal side, excluding the Dembélé income, there are 35.5 million euros.
