Vakoun Bayo, the athletic striker of TFC in 2020/21, was before J1 the last player to score a brace for his first appearance in Ligue 2 BKT. The Ivorian had not taken advantage of his performance in a heavy Toulouse defeat in Grenoble (5-3, J2), in August 2020.
But during the first day on Saturday, two neophytes shone by scoring each twice. First Ousmane Camara during Auxerre’s big success at Valenciennes (1-4), then Rayan Ghrieb in the colors of the promoted Dunkirk, allowing his side to take a draw against ESTAC (2-2). He who finished 2nd in the scorers last season in the National.
Ranking of scorers
For his part, the 21-year-old Senegalese confirmed his last season with the AJA reserve (16 goals).
Ousmane Camara, the 2nd from Auxerre to sign a double for his 1st
Camara becomes the 2nd Auxerrois to sign a double on his debut in Ligue 2 BKT, since before him Yannis Mbombo had done as well in 2014/15. The Belgian also scored twice in the derby against Troyes in J1.
If the latter had only finished the season with three goals, Adrian Grbic (17 goals in 19/20) and Cédric Fauré (20 goals in 02/03) had been ranked 2nd and 1st in the scorers’ rankings after starting their season with a double.
Finally, only one player managed to afford a hat-trick on his debut: Abraham Guié Guié. The Ivorian had hit hard, since he had scored a second hat-trick in his 3rd game, reaching 9 goals after six games.
