Ourense ‘low’ to 30 km / h | Radio Ourense

Come into force new statewide speed limits, which force to circulate at 30 km / h on urban roads, a measure that also affects Ourense in most of its streets; since only those that have two-way traffic can maintain the limit at 50 km / h, few are in our city.

One of these points is the confluence of the streets Concejo and Juan XXIII, in which the subdelegate of the government made statements to the media, Emilio gonzalez who highlighted among the supposed advantages the reduction of urban noise, or the reduction of abuses.

The mayor, Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, described the day as ‘a big day for pedestrians in Spain’. With regard to the city, the councilor recognized that the changes will help to further promote pedestrianism that he wants to introduce in Ourense; but ruled out the possibility of installing a lane, bike in the city; as had recently been raised.

All this happens when we already know that the DGT reported that it will be in a matter of a month – at most a month and a half – that the new device begins to flash the vehicles that exceed the 80 kilometer per hour limit on the N-525. Specifically, at kilometer 237 in the direction of Santiago, before the O Couto underpass. But the mayor already clarifies that it is expected the installation of about 8 radars precisely to control compliance with these new standards.
