The Belgian is and remains champagne mad. In 2020, the year of the first lockdown, sales in our country fell by only 1.9 percent. That is a lot less than in our neighboring countries. Thanks to home consumption (+20 percent). And this year, fourth wave or not, the market seems to have completely recovered and home consumption rose by no less than 45 percent between January and September (GFK figures). The supermarkets are taking advantage of this. It’s raining again promotions and they are quite attractive. Not only among the “house champagnes” but also among the major(er) brands. We tasted dozens of copies and selected the 20 best bargains.
