“Our squad is complete”: Juventus rules out the hypothesis of a return of Paul Pogba

Juventus pushes Paul Pogba towards the exit. Through the voice of its sports director, this Saturday, October 19, the Italian club reiterated that it was no longer counting on the French international, even if his suspension for doping will end in March 2025 and that he said he was ready to reduce his salary to continue his career with the Turinese.

“Our position on Paul is very clear. Paul was a great football player, but he stopped playing for so long.”said Cristiano Giuntoli on the DAZN platform before Juve’s match against Lazio.

“We were forced to invest in other players during these years (of absence) and our squad is currently complete”he continued, suggesting that the Piedmont club was going to terminate the contract of its French midfielder.

Pogba ‘willing to give up money’

Pogba, 31, is under contract with Juve until 2026. His contract, signed in July 2022, guarantees him an annual salary of eight million euros, salary reduced to 2,000 euros per month during the eighteen months of his suspension after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in August 2023.

He was initially suspended for four years, a sanction lowered at the beginning of October to eighteen months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

This week, the 2018 world champion indicated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport that he was ‘willing to give up money to be able to play again with Juve’. “I’m a Juve player, in my mind that’s all there is at the moment”he added.

Since his return after six seasons at Manchester United to Juve, a club where he had already played between 2012 and 2016, Pogba, whose 2022-23 season was disrupted by a serious knee injury, has only played 12 matches (213 minutes of play, zero goals) and significantly damaged his image.
