The Israeli pianist born in 1983, faithful to the Grandes Heures, will play Bach’s Partita No. 2 this year, a transcription of Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun,” the “Fantaisie” opus 17 which is undoubtedly Schumann’s pianistic masterpiece, and the cycle of six “Bagatelles” opus 126 which he already recorded with other final works of Beethoven on a CD released in 2017.

To present its 2025 season, it will play the famous “American” Quartet by Dvořák and tangos by Piazzolla with its string quartet whose name pays homage to the Bordeaux luthier Pierre Taconné (1930-1996) whose son Patrice took over the workshop .

Bordeaux. Born in Seoul but trained in Cologne, Munich and Paris, Mihi Kim is now French and teaches at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. On her platinum flute, she plays a lot of contemporary music but will serve on Saturday the 12 Fantasies published in 1732 by Telemann, a contemporary and friend of Bach, in dialogue with Holy Scripture.

Bordeaux. Dvořák’s Mass in D major was created with organ in 1887 and then orchestrated in 1892. Lionel Gaudin-Villard will conduct it in a version with piano, cello and double bass. We will also discover the “Moravian Songs” harmonized by Dvořák in 1876 then transcribed for choir by his friend Janáček.

Florian Sempey: Performing at the Auditorium is always a great honor and pleasure for me. The venue has a rich history and incredible architecture that adds to the overall musical experience. The acoustics are superb, and it allows the audience to fully immerse themselves in the music.
Delyana Lazarova: Similar to Florian, I am thrilled to perform at such a renowned venue. The acoustics are indeed remarkable, and it’s fascinating how the sound travels throughout the auditorium creating an intimate yet grand atmosphere. It allows us, as performers, to explore various dynamics and emotions in our music-making.
Section 2: Discussion on the Opera “Hamlet”
Interviewer: You both will perform in Ambroise Thomas’ “Hamlet.” Can you tell us more about the opera and its significance in the opera repertoire?
Florian Sempey: “Hamlet” is a lesser-known opera but certainly has its place in the repertoire. It’s a powerful work that explores themes of love, revenge, and betrayal, and the music is quite dramatic and passionate. I’m excited to finally have the opportunity to perform this challenging role.
Delyana Lazarova: Absolutely! “Hamlet” is a gem of the French repertoire, and I’m happy to bring this magnificent work back to life on stage. It’s not often performed, but it has some beautiful arias and ensembles that showcase the singers’ abilities. I’m looking forward to seeing Florian bring his interpretation to life.
