Like every year, the Science Festival is launched in Alsace, and in France more generally!
From October 4 to 14, 2024, you will be able to take advantage of several completely free scientific workshops: laboratory visits, live shows or even walks in the science villages, there is something for everyone!
For its 33rd edition, the Fête de la Science celebrates “ the Ocean of Knowledge » with a particular interest in marine life. We take this opportunity to make a selection for you scientific events in Alsace not to be missed!
In the Haut-Rhin
A sensory exploration with the show “Eau là là!” »
Created especially for the Science Festival by Bénédicte Lebeau, researcher at the CNRS in Mulhouse and ambassador of the festival in the Grand-Est, with the Compagnie l’Oiseau Lyre, “Eau là là! » immerses you in a universe illustrating the multiple properties of water.
A true poetic spectacle, water is given pride of place thanks to a harmony of music, puppets that come to life and shadow puppets!
The first performance of the show takes place on Friday October 4 at 7 p.m., at the Sundgau media library in Altkirch !
Explore Alsace in the time of the dinosaurs!
Did you dream of being a paleontologist when you were a child? This was also the case for Mary Anning, who, at the age of 12, discovered in 1812 the fossil remains of a marine reptile measuring almost 5 meters!
This marine species which has been renamed “ichthyosaur” was also found in Alsace, submerged underwater. What if you took part in a workshop to uncover the fossils hidden in the sands of our region?
This is what the Colmar Science Village from October 10 to 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Salle des Catherinettes! Brushes and brushes in hand, prepare to be true experts!
How do we live in water? Thematic visit to the Mulhouse zoological museum
Life originated in water more than 3 billion years ago, when life on Earth was not possible due to a lack of oxygen. But how have marine species adapted? How did they develop and what was their way of life? These are the questions that the Mulhouse Zoological Museum answers with its thematic visit “adaptations to the aquatic environment”!
His goal? Show the importance of water in the history of the Earth and life by addressing topics on vertebrates, different living environments, or even the adaptation of species.
Through these explanations, you will also be able to observe animals such as dwarf crocodiles, polar bears, African penguins and many others to discover at the Mulhouse Zoological & Botanical Park from October 7 to 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

A festive weekend at Le Vaisseau!
The Ship in Strasbourgan essential place for science, opens its doors and offers various activities on the theme of water.
Creation of your own filter, immersion at the bottom of the water thanks to a 3D simulation and new workshops are on the program, on October 12 and 13!
You will also be able to participate in La Fresque Océane, a collaborative workshop based on collective intelligence to understand the issues linked to the ocean and the impacts of our activities. Something to have fun while learning!
The sky of the Science Festival
What if reaching the sky was easier than you think? Contemplate the evening sky, dressed in stars and planets, with a dazzling show at the Science Garden Planetarium!
On October 4, the Planetarium invites you to settle in and discover the sky, the constellations, the planets as well as other celestial objects thanks to a session led by a mediator. The opportunity to understand what is happening right above our heads!
The Science Festival offers days full of scientific events in several other towns in Alsace and the Grand-Est region!
