On Tuesday, August 11, the Lucid Air model will be unveiled. The manufacturer posted a trailer on Twitter, which shows that the electrician will reach 442 miles, or 711 kilometers on the battery. It is not known whether these are data according to the EPA procedure, and therefore close to real, or an attempt to break a record.

Lucid Air – the first car to break the 700 kilometer range limit?

When it comes to real ranges or their good approximations, the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus with a 92 (102) kWh battery is in the lead. According to the EPA, the car reaches 402 miles / 647 kilometers, which, even taking into account Tesla’s optimizations, gives about 520-550 kilometers of real range when driving calmly.

If Lucid promises the Air model will be able to hit 442 miles / 711 kilometers on the battery, it will beat Tesla by 10 percent. And it will be the first electric car in the world to cross the 700 km mark as soon as it goes into production at the end of this year:

It is worth noting, however, that in April Lucid had already made a demonstration, during which over 640 kilometers of range was achieved. And it was not a test following the EPA procedure, but not a very fast ride to the record:

In this situation, the reference material will be the Italian model S 100D record, in which a distance of almost 1,080 kilometers on a single charge. It is probably the only such record that was officially (as true) confirmed by Elon Musk:

The presentation of the Lucid Air model will take place on September 9, 2020. We are then to know the final appearance of the car and its final technical details. The first series of cars will be delivered to buyers in 2021.
