OUR Declaration was marked by protests against dozens of people

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Declaration of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE) at the Tugu Proclamation Square, Tuesday, August 18, 2020, there were demonstrations of resistance from a number of people. The crowd, calling themselves the Indonesian Millennial Action Alliance, rallied around the location of the declaration since 11.30 WIB.

“They do not comply with government protocols. There are crowds, they do not keep their distance,” said a demonstration orator over loudspeakers on Jalan Pegangsaan, Jakarta, August 18, 2020.

The protesters are demanding that the declaration be dissolved because they think it has the potential to create new clusters in the middle pandemic Covid-19. Apart from that, the orator considered the WE declaration as the right momentum to perpetuate the issue of political interest.

They even criticized former officials affiliated with US because they considered taking advantage of the 75-year momentum of Indonesian Independence to divide the nation. “Don’t infect the public with a virus of hatred against the government,” shouted the orator.

The protesters consisted of dozens of people carrying Red and White flags and banners. Meanwhile, a crowd of our mass gathered in front of the Tugu Proclamation gate. The demonstrators finally disbanded when the WE declaration ended at 13.00 WIB.

As is well known, a number of figures declared WE on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. They also sent eight demands to the government, DPR, and legal officials.

One of those demands urge the government and legislative members to enforce state administration and management in accordance with the spirit, spirit and values ​​of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila.
