Our colleague Alicia Bárcenas, director of ECAM FP, dies

Today, May 23, 2022, we want to communicate the sad news of the death of our colleague Alicia Bárcenas, director of the school of Voice training Archbishop Morcillo of Caritas (ECAM).

Alicia has always been an example of struggle, camaraderie and work for the most vulnerable and socially excluded.

Our dear comrade, was director of the ECAM since 2007, where he has given his life, for those young people rejected by the educational system, for those who cannot find their place in the classroom and who have found their place in school.

Alicia, in the fifteen years that she has worked at the center, together with the teaching staff, has transformed ECAM into a place of hope, self-improvement and great opportunities for the thousands of young people who have passed through its classrooms. The Arzobispo Morcillo school has become a point of reference for management and integration in the Community of Madrid, thanks in large part to its inexhaustible dedication.

For this reason, today the center has declared mourning, as a sign of mourning, suspending lessons.

In addition, Alicia collaborated with our diocesan Cáritas by leading the quality area. Thanks to her, Cáritas Diocesana de Getafe has recently obtained the ISO90002015 quality certification.

An important title, which our dear colleague has led for two years, and which recognizes the management system of our entity. It is a fundamental certification to be able to obtain aid from other public and private entities for our Caritas programs, through which thousands of vulnerable and socially excluded people pass every year.

From here, we want to acknowledge his immense work, he was an example for everyone, and we ask for a prayer for his soul and for the comfort of his family and friends. We are certain that today many students will feel like orphans, because Alicia was, for many, something more than a director.

For Enrique Carrero, director of the Cáritas Diocesana de Getafe «Although it was awaited and feared news, sadness oppresses our hearts. Alicia was a person loved by all of us, for being her and for doing her, she leaves a deep mark in our feelings. Caritas Diocesana de Getafe expresses deep gratitude for all that you have given us with your dedication and your effective work for the institution.”

We know Alicia will continue to care for us and intercede for all from the Father’s house.

Soon we will inform about the Eucharist that we will celebrate for his soul.
