Our 10 favorite shows from NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

For many, September simply means returning to routine, but for fashion lovers, this month is the most important of the year, as the world’s biggest fashion weeks are held. As is now common, New York –one of the big four– kicks off the season and, in this article, we summarise the best shows of the last few days in the Big Apple.

New York Fashion Week Highlights

1. Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler was one of the first shows of this New York Fashion Week. The catwalk was located in a very open space with large windows, through which sunlight entered. The clothes and styles tended, once again, to the officecorea trend that has been on the rise for several seasons and plans to continue growing in popularity.

Many of the designs presented played with asymmetry and shape, creating novel and striking structures. Also noteworthy is the navy blue color and stripes, as both details were present in almost all of the first looks. Finally, point out the fringes as one of the details that will be most in trend next spring.

Ralph Lauren

We continue talking about Ralph Lauren that took us to Los Hamptonsthe summer residence of the American upper classes – especially those in New York – par excellence. There, the veteran American designer presented a proposal that continues to maintain the codes that the firm has been defending for decades.

Neutral colors such as navy blue, white and black stood out. beigeexcept for some looks multicoloured. All the styles and garments gave off that aura – which so characterises the design and which is so fashionable now – of subtle richness, with history and nothing opulent.

Alaïa

Next we talk about Alaïa, one of the most talked about and acclaimed shows of New York Fashion Week due to its location, proposal and guests. First of all, the museo Guggenheim It was the setting for the fashion show, and specifically a circular room surrounded by a spiral ramp down which the models descended – it was the first time that the museum was converted into a catwalk.

In itself, the entire proposal was an exercise in purity and simplicity in which everything was very measured and studied. The maxi coats, the dresses with openings and the barrel-shaped trousers – a trend we already talked about.

Palomo Spain

Palomo presented his Spring/Summer 2025 collection at the Fourth Universalist Society in New York under the name “All of Heaven’s Parties.” For this collection, the Spaniard continues his exploration of the intricate interplay between human sexuality and rationality, delving into the realm of sexual expression.

Again, the fringes are the detail that adorns many of the designs on the catwalk, although we have also seen many shoulder pads, stripes and studs. As for colours, within the palette of basics, orange, lilac and powder pink stand out, and, if we talk about prints, leopard continues to triumph undisputedly.

Off White

“Dutty free” has been the title of Off White’s latest collection for the upcoming SS25 season and this one has drawn on the roots of the late creative director Virgil Ablohas it emerged after a trip to Ghana – Abloh’s country of origin.

It has also been a very varied collection in which we have seen styles that combined a more urban and sporty aesthetic with elements such as heels or rhinestones. The key accessory has been the beltwhether covered in rhinestones or with pockets in the purest utilitarian style. And the camouflage She has also walked the catwalk to make her return to the ring clear.

Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger was also present at New York Fashion Week, presenting the Spring ’25 collection on Sunday. The show, which took place on the decommissioned MV John F. Kennedy, the former Staten Island Ferry, celebrated Tommy’s love of the nautical lifestyle, reinforced by bold maritime color codes in red, white and blue.

One of the most notable elements of the parade are the Breton and Ithaca striped shirts inspired by nautical heritage. We also observed handkerchiefs neck warmers, hand-woven coastal flip-flops, and a new chunky rope TH Monogram on raffia baseball caps.

Carolina Herrera

Wes Gordon is very clear about the type of Carolina Herrera client that she wants to wear, and that is why her designs rarely show great variations in terms of structure, shape and style. And, if these variations are included, they always respect the codes of the brand. Thus, for this spring/summer 2025 collection, Carolina Herrera presented a woman who is both classic and modern.

The prints par excellence have been flowers and the already iconic ones polka dots. Black and white were also very present, but also other vibrant colours such as yellow, red or pink. As for silhouettes, there was a great variety, as there were many looks with the classic A-line shape, others with a low-hip silhouette and some with a straight shape.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch has been one of those firms that, when watching the show, the first thing that came to mind was the word trend. Many of its pieces have many chances of becoming the most popular. hits next summer, such as the gathered shirtsskirts with asymmetrical ruffles or wide waistbands.

Of all the colors present, we highlight the navy bluea colour that is not so popular nowadays and which shows like this one show is becoming more and more present in our wardrobes. In addition, the show was full of star models such as Irina Shayk, Paloma Elsesser, Vittoria Ceretti and the it girl Alexa Chung.

Michael Kors

Another of the great designers of New York Fashion Week is Michael Kors, who has presented a proposal full of details worth mentioning. First of all, he is another of the designers who tend to create designs and styles perfect for joining the trend. officecoreFor example, the combination of a shirt and a midi skirt has been one of the North American creative’s bets and, from Vanidad, we can already tell you that it is the perfect combo for the office.

This time around, Kors has also played a lot with socially invalid color combinations, such as, for example, Navy blue and black or brown and black. Floral details were not missing, but neither were fringes –which we have already seen in many other proposals–.

Outside

Finally, let’s talk about Luar, a label that managed to bring together Bad Gyal, Ozuna, Ice Spice and Madonna in the same front row. With a catwalk located in the Rockefeller Center –one of the most emblematic places in the Big Apple– and music techno As ambient sound, the Brooklyn native presented a punk, but elevated collection, which has caused the extravagance become a little more fashionable again.

Among their proposals we highlight leather as one of the key materials, as well as wide shoulder pads as one of the most used and repeated silhouettes. Large and long trousers should not be forgotten either. trench coatsnor the tailoring reinterpreted with cut outs y fits oversize.
