Ould Salek interviews the African Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security —

The Saharawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the national secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, met on Friday the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, who is visiting in Western Sahara.

The Sahrawi Press Agency (SPS) specified that “the discussions which took place in Chahid El-Hafedh focused on cooperation between the Sahrawi Republic and the African Union, regular consultations between the two parties on the situation in Africa and the implementation of the continental agenda in the area of ​​peace, security and development”.

The meeting made it possible to inform the African leader of the latest developments of the Saharawi problem, especially in this situation marked by the resumption of the armed struggle and the direct confrontation with the Moroccan occupier.

The talks also mentioned the efforts of the United Nations and the expected role of the African Union in the search for a solution to the Saharawi problem which would allow the Saharawi people to enjoy their right to self-determination, according to the same source.

The African leader will meet, on Friday evening, with the chief of staff of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army (APLS), Mohamed El-Ouali Akeik, and the Minister of Social Affairs and the Promotion of Women of the Sahara, Mrs. Assouilma Birouk.

At the end of his visit, Mr. Bankole Adeoye will meet the President of the Saharawi Republic and the Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali.
