With the three events in Haag, Podersdorf and Graz, the trend sport is celebrating a successful comeback.
The “Sand and More Cup” with host Leo Breisach was successfully held at the “Sand and More” facility in Graz as part of the Uhrturmtrophy beach tennis tournament. This also brought the last tournament of the ÖTV Beach Tennis Tour to a successful end. The day’s victory at the Graz beach tennis event went to the duo Patrick Ludwig / Michael Moitzi, ahead of Jakob Beck and Daniel Csuk. In the match for third place, the pairing Lukas Laipold / Stefan Steiner won against Maria Aumann / Anna-Theresa Rosmanitz.
In 2024, three beach tennis tournaments took place in Austria: the “Mostbeach Open” in Haag, the “PODOBEACH Open” in Podersdorf am See and the “Sand und Mehr Cup” in Graz. These tournaments were part of the ÖTV Beach Tennis Tour 2024 and made a significant contribution to revitalizing the national beach tennis scene. The success of the tournaments made it clear that beach tennis is a trendy and popular sport. All three tournaments counted towards the ÖTV race ranking, in which the best players won attractive prizes. A total of 85 participants took part in the three tournaments, which underlines the great success of the events.
The race ranking was won by the Tyroleans Lukas Schröck and Daniel Windisch, who were delighted to receive two nights in the Glamping Mobile Home in Podersdorf am See. The players in second and third place received VIP tickets for the Davis Cup against Turkey and two VIP tickets for the ATP Challenger in Bad Waltersdorf.
A big thank you goes to all players who took part this year, as well as to the tournament organizers Michael Selinger (Haag), Rene Lentsch and Markus Pfeffer (Podersdorf am See) and Leo Breisach (Graz). A special thank you also goes to Stefan Schreiner and Timm Wapper from the Uhrturmtrophy sports club for organizing the tournaments in Podersdorf and Graz.
Beach tennis tournaments are also planned again next year. The facility in Podersdorf in particular has proven to be predestined for larger events and will certainly play an important role in the beach tennis season again. With the successful tournaments in 2024, beach tennis has further established itself as an attractive sport and will certainly inspire many more fans and players in Austria.
