Ottawa pays approximately $ 21 million to the manufacturing sector

The federal government will provide nearly $ 21 million in financial assistance to 45 innovation projects in the manufacturing sector.

Economic Development Minister Mélanie Joly will make the announcement in Quebec City on Thursday afternoon with the President of the Conseil du trésor, Jean-Yves Duclos.

Several envelopes will go to projects in the Capitale-Nationale region and Ottawa will emphasize in particular the need to modernize certain elements of production in the context of COVID-19.

As physical distance is an issue in the workplace, certain forms of automation and robotization can prove to be interesting, we should argue.

The envelopes, some of which will consist of loans and others of non-repayable assistance, will be distributed via the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec.

In addition, we find aid of $ 1 million to the Machinex company for an equipment modernization project.

The same amount will go to Simard Suspensions Inc for, among other things, the acquisition of a robotic arm.

A government source said the majority of the financial contributions will go to small and medium-sized businesses.
