Ottawa NHL Club Signs One-Year Contract with Russian Striker Vladimir Tarasenko

TASS, 28 July. Club of the National Hockey League (NHL) “Ottawa” has signed a contract with Russian striker Vladimir Tarasenko. This was reported by the press service of the team.

The $5 million agreement is for one year. Tarasenko was in the status of an unrestricted free agent.

In February, Tarasenko was traded from St. Louis to the New York Rangers. The Russian has been playing for St. Louis since 2013, in 2019 he won the Stanley Cup. Tarasenko played 38 games for the Rangers, scoring 25 points (11 goals + 14 assists). In the first round of the playoffs, the team lost to New Jersey by a score of 3–4 in the series. Ottawa failed to make the playoffs.

In the 2010 draft, Tarasenko was selected by St. Louis with the 16th overall number. In the Kontinental Hockey League, he played for Novosibirsk “Siberia” and St. Petersburg SKA. As part of the Russian national team, Tarasenko became the silver medalist of the 2015 World Cup. Tarasenko is the world champion among youth teams (players under 20 years old) in 2011.
