The speed and efficiency with which vaccines against the Corona virus were published was amazing, early results indicate that vaccines have their intended effects, the benefits of vaccines are not limited to resistance to viruses, but they can provide a range of additional benefits, as reported by British Express.
According to Mail Online reports, for example the BCG vaccine, which protects against tuberculosis, is used to treat bladder cancer patients with non-invasive tumors – given directly into the bladder to help the immune system fight cancer.
Moreover, bladder cancer patients who receive this treatment are less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease, according to the results of a recent study.
The mechanisms involved are unclear. Some suggest that vaccines can “train” the immune system and strengthen its defenses. This heralds possible positive results for the current vaccination program, which extends beyond the containment of Covid-19.
Some argue that it is not the direct effect on the immune system but the indirect effects of protecting against infection that confer these benefits.
“Suffering from measles, tuberculosis, or any other infection we vaccinate against can have long-term harmful effects on our immune system,” Prof Sheena Cruikshank, an immunologist from the University of Manchester, told Mail Online.
Undermining your immune system can make you vulnerable to other diseases.
“People who are vaccinated against this infection will in turn be less likely to develop other diseases as a result,” said Professor Chyna.
Benefits of Coronavirus Vaccine – The Latest
The two currently published vaccines against the Corona virus, Pfizer and Oxford, – Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca – have been shown to lower rates of serious diseases, which could include fighting cancer and Alzheimer’s.
A new British study also found that a single dose of a coronavirus vaccine from Pfizer, Pfizer-BioNTech, reduces the number of asymptomatic infections and can significantly reduce the risk of transmission.
Results from Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge indicated 75 percent protection from Covid, the results also indicate a four-fold reduction in the risk of developing an asymptomatic Covid infection among healthcare workers who were vaccinated for more than 12 days, and this addresses some of the concerns related to By limiting the spread of the virus.
To gather their findings, Cambridge researchers analyzed the results of thousands of Covid tests performed every week as part of hospital checks of healthcare workers.
Dr Mike Wickes, an infectious disease specialist in the University of Cambridge’s Department of Medicine who co-led the study, described the results as “great news”.
He said: “The Pfizer vaccine not only provides protection from SARS-CoV-2 infection, but also helps prevent infection, which reduces the possibility of transmitting the virus to others.”
