Other races – Death of John Sprinzel

John Sprinzel passed away at the age of 90 this week. English driver, but of German origin, the native of Berlin first distinguished himself in Saloon Car, before becoming British rally champion in 1959. The following year, he obtained his most beautiful trophy, a class victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring driving an Austin-Healey Sebring Sprite, a coupe he had developed himself. A few months later, the Liège-Rome-Liège and the RAC ended with two second places.

In 1968, he took on the organizer hat by participating in the creation of two extravagant adventures: London-Sydney and London-Mexico (1970). Unable to rest, and settled in Greece, he subsequently represented this nation at the windsurfing world championships in the 1980s!

The editorial staff of AUTOweekly sends its condolences to the family and loved ones of John Sprinzel.
