Östersund’s move in the crisis – picks up Lars Lagerbäck

Östersunds FK has had a tough season and is currently last in the Allsvenskan. Recently, the club fired head coach Amir Azrafshan and replaced him with Per Joar Hansen.

Now ÖFK is taking further action to get out of the crisis. On Tuesday, the club announced that Sweden’s former national team captain Lars Lagerbäck joins the coaching staff to act as a sounding board for his good friend Per Joar Hansen.

– Since “Perry” got this job and we are close to each other, while I myself live ten miles from here, I said that I obviously stand up if I can in some way assist or be a sounding board, says Lars Lagerbäck in a video on Östersund’s Facebook page.

After 19 rounds played in the Allsvenskan, Östersund has only won three matches. At the moment, the club has six points up to safe ground.

The hope is that the team will now be able to lift in the table – with the help of routine on the coaching staff.

– “Perry” wants me to do something, I do it. I have seen ÖFK’s last three matches and we have talked about both the opponents and how ÖFK has performed. I try to help in the best way, but it is “Perry” who decides and makes the decisions, says Lars Lagerbäck.

73-year-old Lars Lagerbäck has a solid track record as a coach. Among other things, he has been a successful national team captain for Sweden, Iceland and Norway.
