Ostend introduces registration system for popular beaches | Abroad

The system is only used on the three busiest beaches: Klein Strand, Groeistrand and Groot Strand. People can register via the internet or a toll-free telephone number and are assured of a spot if they arrive before 2 pm. Visitors to other beaches do not need to register.

The registration system is used from Saturday to Wednesday. “Due to the beautiful weather forecasts, the start of the construction leave and the national holiday, a lot of people will come to Ostend,” expects Mayor Bart Tommelein (Open VLD). “We want to use this to get a good estimate of the expected crowds, so that we can take the necessary measures.”
