Latvia’s leading tennis player Alona Ostapenko on Saturday paired with Ukrainian Ludmila Kičenok reached the second round of the Indian Wells “WTA 1000” series doubles tournament. In the first round, the Latvian / Ukrainian duo beat the international duo Shelby Rogers (USA) / Ajla Tomljanoviča (Australia) – 6-3, 6-3.
In the first set, Kichenok and Ostapenko used the first break ball in the second and sixth games, but lost the third game. It has already been reported that in the single-player tournament, Ostapenko defeated Taiwanese Suvei Xie in the second round with a result of 6-3, 6-0 and will meet with Yulia Putinceva (WTA 43) representing Kazakhstan in the third round. Latvia’s second racket, Anastasia Sevastova (WTA 65), in the second round of the tournament on Saturday gave way to Tunisian Onsa Žabera (WTA 14), who was sown with the number 12 in the tournament – 2-6, 7-6 (7: 5), 3-6 .
