“Oslo to Ban Cruise Ships from Anchoring in Front of Akershus Fortress”

It has been talked about for years. But this season, cruise ships will (almost) not anchor in front of Akershus fortress.

This is how the cruise ships lie in front of Akershus fortress. From 1 June it will (almost) end.

Each year, Oslo receives just over 150 cruise ships. Whether they are a good or a nuisance for the city is hotly debated. In any case, several people, including MDG and the Conservative Party, have long believed that the “floating high-rises” should not be allowed to seize the sunny quays in front of Akershus fortress. Last year, a total of 96 of them were located right there, on Akershusstranda and Vippetangen.

In 2020, the city council decided that they should leave both places during the “current city council period” – that is, before the election this autumn. Revierkaia, inside the terminal for the “Danish boats”, was the only one they wanted to keep in the centre.
