NO ONE ARRESTED: Police search for witnesses after the rape in Tollbugata in central Oslo.

– Efforts are being made to find any witnesses and any video material. We have a witness who reported the incident.

– Was a weapon used?

– At the moment we have no information about it.

– Was the DNA evidence secured at the crime scene?

– For the moment I will not go into the details of the forensic investigation.

When VG calls at 05:50, he says there is some video material, but the police have so far not addressed this issue.

Jacobsen says the police will try to interrogate the woman on Thursday morning or in the morning.

The woman was taken to the emergency room.

Tollbugata is located right next to the Oslo Opera and Central Station in central Oslo.

Jacobsen says the police are now calling witnesses who were in the area around 10:20 pm to report to the police.

No new witnesses came forward overnight.

SECURITY TRACKS: Crime scene technicians at work in Tollbugata on Thursday night.

After a wave of rapes in 2011, Oslo police developed new guidelines so that the media cited fewer reported rapes. One report showed that the rise in rape reports was strongly associated with the number of press reports.

– Previously, we have come out with many cases, but it created a tremendous fear. A media image has been created that there have been a lot of rapes all the time, the head of the sex crimes section, Kari-Janne Lid, told VG i 2016.

The practice that still applies in the Oslo police is that information about rape is provided only if the public can contribute to the investigation, if the police are afraid that the perpetrator will rape again or if the media has picked up on the incident in another way.
