On Monday afternoon, the police report on X that a patrol has stopped a car with an icy windscreen in Sandvika, west of Oslo.
The driver had only scratched 20×20 cm of the windscreen. “Therefore, according to the police’s assessment, it was not a proper search. The police are opening a case and the driver’s license has been seized,” the police write.
The car was stopped at Hamangskogen in Sandvika at 4.15pm.
Operations manager in the Oslo police district emphasizes that driving with such a windscreen can be very dangerous.
– When you have so little view, you can run over someone, says Pedersen.
This advice probably did not reach everyone. A couple of hours later, a car driver was stopped with virtually no view of Grorud. This driver also lost his driving license on the spot.

NAF writes on its pages that “if you are stopped with a view that is smaller than an A4 sheet, your driver’s license will be confiscated on the spot. The driver’s license can be confiscated even if it is visible more than an A4 sheet, but this depends on the time, place and traffic conditions.
The police have previously advised car owners to cover the windscreen with a blanket or a so-called top hat, so that all windows are covered. That way you avoid scraping ice off the windows.
