Strongest in form in the SHL, home ice and an opponent who is firmly at the bottom of the table.

Then everything spoke for Leksand’s seventh straight victory.

But Oskarshamn wanted something else – and turned 0–2 into a 3–2 victory in the Tegera arena.

– Vi redde ut stormen, Säger match winner Ahti Oksanen.

It was set for a seventh straight three-pointer. Leksand dominated emphatically, but without getting the puck in during the first 20 minutes of the match.

Instead, the dividend came in the middle period. Kalle Östman scored the lead goal immediately, after which Lukas Elvenes made it 2-0 in a numerically superior game. A long-awaited goal because Leksand didn’t get it right in the power play.

Elvenes to TV4 play:

– We really needed it. It had been far too long. We should have entered something in the first place, but now it came instead. Great.

“Too bad”

All done? Not at all.

Niclas Burström ensured that Oskarshamn got in touch with the reduction with a few minutes left in the period.

– After 2-0, we were far too bad and were too far apart in the forechecking. We have to tighten that up, says Elvenes.

David Quenneville equalized and took the game to overtime. Oskarshamn only needed 1.04 minutes. Ahti Oksanen sent in 3–2 and the Smålands took two much-needed points.

The last time Leksand lost (1–2) was at home against Frölunda on December 7.

– Actually, there is not much to complain about. We would have decided the match much earlier with all the scoring chances we created, says coach Challe Berglund to TV4 play.

Match penalty for the teenager

In Örnsköldsvik, Rögle’s 18-year-old talent Simon Zether received a match penalty for the tackle on Modo’s Sebastian Ohlsson.

Zether’s match was already over before the first period was finished. After video review, the referees judged that the main tackle would take more than five minutes, writes hockeysverige.se.

It still worked out gallantly for Rögle, who had 2-0 when Simon Zether had to go into the dressing room to change.

The club, vulnerable in the table, took three important points – and in style. In the final period, Michael Kapla, among other things, sent in two pucks leading up to the 5–1 victory.

Janne Kuokkanen’s late 2-2 receipt for Malmö took the meeting with Frölunda to penalties. Noah Dower Nilsson was the only player to score his penalty and that gave Frölunda the extra point.
