On Thursday, VG wrote that there is a hot market for heaters in Oslo at the moment.

A cold wave is spreading across Eastern Norway, and it could be well below minus 20 degrees towards the weekend.

One person who has been on the stove action is influencer and entrepreneur Oskar Westerlin (25).

He used heaters totaling NOK 18,000. On social media, he said that he would sell these for “blood price”.

Strong reactions

Westerlin has over 500,000 followers on TikTok and over 240,000 on Snapchat. He has also posted a Reel on Instagram about the heaters.

He has angered many people, who are critical of him selling the heaters for more than he himself bought them for.

In an SMS to VG, Westerlin says that this was simply a joke.

– We have a large office in an old building that we struggle to heat up, so we went to Elkjøp to buy heaters. And once we were there, I thought that it could be fun to really go for it and make some entertainment out of it, writes Westerlin.

– Have you actually planned to sell them for a higher price?

– No, it was only meant as nonsense. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do with them, but I think I’ll give them away to some of the followers who need a little extra warmth this weekend, he writes.

Bought 25 heaters

On social media, he referred to VG’s case about empty shelves, and showed off all the heaters he had bought.

– You can wonder why. Could have something to do with the fact that I bought 25 heaters in the sta. It’s going to be 26 degrees Celsius on Saturday, I’m going to sell these at blood price, said Westerlin.

Westerlin says that he has received a lot of feedback afterwards.

– I have received hundreds of hate comments and long messages that I take advantage of the weak in society, that people have lost trust in me and that this is beyond the limit of what you can joke about, he writes to VG.
