Paris. National team member Osiris Machado achieved a bronze debut in the F44/F64 discus throw final, with a mark of 40.01 meters, on the third day of para athletics competitions at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
“The truth is it feels really nice, I think words can’t describe the emotion of being in front of everyone and having everyone celebrate with you,” shared the 20-year-old from Nayarit.
Machado achieved an impeccable streak of good results in the cycle with the gold medal at the Bogotá 2023 Youth Parapan American Games, the gold medal with an Americas record at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games and the silver medal at the Kobe, Japan, 2024 World Para Athletics Championships.

In other results, wheelchair sprinter Juan Pablo Cervantes finished fifth in heat 2, with a time of 47.30 seconds, in the 400-meter T54 qualifiers and qualified for the final, which will be held this Sunday, in the afternoon session.
Mónica Rodríguez, who competed with her guide Pablo Jaciel Rodríguez, finished third in heat 2, with 5:00.23 minutes, in the 1,500m T11 qualifying rounds and did not qualify for the final, which was only reached by the top two competitors in her group.
