Paris. National team member Osiris Machado achieved a bronze debut in the F44/F64 discus throw final, with a mark of 40.01 meters, on the third day of para athletics competitions at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

“The truth is it feels really nice, I think words can’t describe the emotion of being in front of everyone and having everyone celebrate with you,” shared the 20-year-old from Nayarit.

Machado achieved an impeccable streak of good results in the cycle with the gold medal at the Bogotá 2023 Youth Parapan American Games, the gold medal with an Americas record at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games and the silver medal at the Kobe, Japan, 2024 World Para Athletics Championships.

“I am very grateful to my coach (Daniel Eduardo Pardo López), because from the very beginning he has trusted me and always motivates me to continue, as well as to my entire family who never lets me down and always supports me, as well as all my friends and people in general.”

In other results, wheelchair sprinter Juan Pablo Cervantes finished fifth in heat 2, with a time of 47.30 seconds, in the 400-meter T54 qualifiers and qualified for the final, which will be held this Sunday, in the afternoon session.
