The returnee Marcus Berg scored his seventh goal in 14 matches, but it was the 35-year-old’s 18-year-old chain mate who received the most praise after IFK Gothenburg’s big victory.
Time and time again, he had to tell about the ball win, the lightning counterattack and the pass to Berg, who sent in 2-0 to Blåvitt at the beginning of the second half.
Wilhelmsson mostly wanted to praise his almost twice as old attacking partner.
– I learn a lot from him, how to run and stuff. It is so nice to have such an experienced player next to him and I think we complement each other quite well, said Wilhelmsson.
That’s how it is. In the first half, Blåvitt’s attacking pair tore up tears in Djurgården’s defense and it was almost as if a nice combination resulted in the score 0-0.
Immediately after the 2-0 goal, another delicious counterattack came from the home team and so was the third straight IFK victory more or less clear.
Wilhelmsson has a hard time putting his finger on what it is that made Blåvitt suddenly find the form, but believes that the team has finally started to work.
– Now we have gained self-confidence, he said.
Against Djurgården, only his own hit was missing. It has been a cup goal for the guy who came to IFK Gothenburg from Halland Åsa IF 2016, but the first in the Allsvenskan he is still waiting for.
– I do not feel any stress. I know it will come, Wilhelmsson said.
Counting soon he also with being able to drive to Kamratgården.
He turned 18 on October 2 and will soon write the theory test for the driving license unless games in the U19 national team put obstacles in the way.
Coach Mikael Stahre was full of praise for his strikers.
– Marcus coaches Oscar well and Oscar has great physical attributes. It’s really worth seeing, Stahre said.
