Óscar Ugarte: Soon we will be able to announce that we will start vaccinating adults over 60 years of age

The head of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Oscar Ugarte, indicated that soon the Government will be able to announce the start of the vaccination against COVID-19 for the group of adults over 60 years of age.

He explained that this is due to the fact that inoculation to adults aged 70 and over is carried out in less time than expected.

“What we are verifying is that in various regions and in Lima, the vaccination of the 70-year-old group is being done in less time than expected and we will soon be able to announce that we will move to the 60-year-old group. way of vaccination, “he said at a press conference.

Ugarte also pointed out that the vaccination process is being carried out in all regions.

Likewise, the Minister of Health said that “there is a tendency to decrease” in the indicators of the percentage of infections, daily cases and the number of deaths.

However, he clarified that “none of this leads us to lower our guard or have an overly optimistic position”, so they expect the trend to be confirmed in the following weeks

“It remains for us to specify that this is expressed in a significant reduction in the use of hospital beds, mainly ICU beds,” he added.
