Oscar Piastri: Dispute with Alpine and a strong debut season in Formula 1
Piastri took his first steps in a Formula 1 car on a test day for young drivers in October 2020. Just over a year later, Alpine announced that Piastri would be installed as a reserve driver for the 2022 F1 season. In August 2022, the racing team announced that the Australian would get a cockpit in the world’s highest racing series in 2023 as the successor to Fernando Alonso.
But Piastri insisted that he had not signed a corresponding contract with Alpine. A public dispute followed between the two parties, at the end of which an independent arbitration board ruled in favor of the driver. Ultimately it turned out that Piastri had already signed a contract with McLaren in July 2022. In 2023 he was promoted to Formula 1, where he has been the successor to Daniel Ricciardo and teammate of Lando Norris ever since.

Oscar Piastri privately: Girlfriend from school days, Mark Webber as manager
Piastri has been together with his girlfriend Lily Zneimer since his penultimate year at school. The two don’t appear in public very often, but he occasionally posts a photo of the two of them on his Instagram profile. From time to time she also accompanies him to races. By the way, it is managed by Mark Webber, a long-time Formula 1 driver and nine-time Grand Prix winner.
If Piastri had to create an “ultimate athlete”, a footballer, Lionel Messi, would also find his place there – even if he himself is not a big fan of the sport, as can be seen on his website. In addition to the Argentine’s feet, he would choose the mentality of Michael Jordan, the strength of Rafael Nadal, the legs of Usain Bolt and the hands of Steven Smith (Australian cricketer). (masc)
