Oscar-nominated American actor Ned Beatty, known for his roles in productions such as “Rescue”, “Superman”, “Toy Story 3”, “Television Network”, has died at the age of 83, world agencies report.
“Ned died of natural causes on Sunday morning, surrounded by family and loved ones“, said in a statement made by his agent Deborah Miller.
“He was a legendary and iconic talent, as well as a dear friend that we will all miss“she added.
Born in Kentucky, Ned Beatty debuted on the big screen in 1972 with the film “Deliverance” by John Burman, marking the beginning of a long career that lasted until 2013.
The actor also starred in “The Whole Presidential Army”, “Superman” and the TV series “Homicide: Life on the Street”. One of the characters in the third film from the hit animated series “The Game of Toys” speaks with his voice, reminds BTA. “It was a great joy and honor to work with Ned Beatty,” animation director Lee Unkritch wrote on Twitter.
Beatty’s role in Television Network (1976) earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
