HV71 stayed in the SHL by winning match seven in the qualifier against Oskarshamn, who then left the top league. Now HV71 also carry out a recruitment coup and bring in Oskarshamn’s back star Oscar Engsund.
The 30-year-old signed a six-year contract with Oskarshamn before the season, a contract that was then canceled when the club fell out of favor.
The captain now chooses to remain in the SHL, and it will also be a sensitive club choice in HV71, which thus played down Oskarshamn in the Hockeyallsvenskan.
– Oscar is a strong leader and one of the league’s best defensive backs. We are very happy that he chooses HV71 and he will be important for us in the future, says sporting director Kent Norberg.
Oscar Engsund has been writing for four years
Oscar Engsund has previously spent seven seasons in Luleå, who were also interested in signing him. But now it is clear that there will be a continuation in Småland.
– It feels very good to be back and I had two good years last in HV71 where I enjoyed both the city and the club. I’ve had a good chat with coach Anton Blomqvist recently and liked what I heard about his view of HV71 going forward.
The new contract is written over the next four seasons.
