Trietová, Scorsese, Nolan, Lanthimos and Glazer were nominated for Best Director for their work. The best actor in a leading role can become one of the five Bradley Cooper (for the movie Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti (Winter Vacation), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction).
Nominees for best actress in a leading role were Annette Bening (Nyad), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Blooming Moon), Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of the Fall), Carey Mulligan (The Maestro) and Emma Stone (The Poor Man).

In the category of the best foreign film, a film by Czech filmmakers will not compete for the prize this year. The film “Brothers” failed the shortlist, which was announced in December.
The films Io Capitano (Italy, directed by Matteo Garrone), Perfect Days (Japan/Germany, Wim Wenders), Snow Brotherhood (Spain/Uruguay, JA Bayona), The Teacher’ Lounge (Germany, Ilker Catak) and Zóna were nominated in this category of interest (USA/UK/Poland, Jonathan Glazer).
More than 320 films were submitted to this year’s 96th annual competition by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to its statement. They compete in more than twenty artistic and technical categories.
