CA Osasuna and CD Leganés drew (1-1) this Saturday in the first round of LaLiga EA Sports held at El Sadar, with one part for each team and therefore a fair distribution.
The home team reacted at the start of their new project with Vicente Moreno in charge, after six years with the Jagoba Arrasate method. It was difficult for Osasuna against a strong Leganés with much clearer ideas, but they could not withstand that response from their rival.
However, the newly promoted side showed why they won the Second Division, in a Sadar that did not seem the same from the start. Leganés bit and was better with and without the ball, and showed the defence that earned them their return to the elite four years later.
Between the heat, the sunny afternoon and an Osasuna trying to find what Vicente Moreno is asking of them now, the ‘pepinero’ team was better and on top of that they went ahead with a great goal from Juan Cruz, assisted by Javi Hernández. Borja Jiménez’s men had already scored after two minutes, but it was ruled out for offside.
Shortly afterwards, Osasuna also saved themselves with a tremendous move by Sergio Herrera, who made up for his poor exit, to clear Miguel de la Fuente’s shot. Budimir had the clearest chance in the half-hour for a local team that improved with the changes in the second half and against a ‘Lega’ that was somewhat more withdrawn.
The 1-1 came with luck but also with merit, after several chances, when in the 80th minute, a shot by Aimar Oroz ended up in the net between a rebound, the post and another rebound in a Herrera with much less luck this time. The entrance of Bryan Zaragoza, a new ‘rojillo’ signing, was what gave joy and clarity to Osasuna and a Sadar that ended up, in addition to asking for a penalty from Raba, more optimistic with the change.
