Osakidetza has suspended and postponed scheduled medical consultations and surgical interventions, except for some specialties such as oncology or cardiac, to focus all efforts on the fight against the coronavirus and avoid concentration of people.
In addition, health centers have also restricted face-to-face consultations to the maximum and most of them are dispatched by telephone.
In the case of Álava, from this Monday, people who present symptoms of respiratory infection should call their primary care center and not the telephone number of the Health Council launched on the occasion of this COVID-19 crisis.
The Basque Health Service has also set up three “high resolution” centers in which a specific area has been set up for patients with a possible respiratory infection, who have been provided with X-ray equipment, a specific care unit has been set up domiciliary and a specific disinfection is done.
In Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, at the moment, these “high resolution” centers have not been set up and people with symptoms should continue calling the Health Council telephone number.
