Osa, ‘the Cuban regime is complicit in the violations in Venezuela’

(ANSA) – CARACAS, 02 MAY – The Organization of American States (OAS) has denounced the alleged complicity of the Cuban regime in possible crimes against humanity committed by the Venezuelan government. The evidence in support of the accusation is contained in a report drawn up by the Casla Institute which the secretary general of the OAS, Luiz Almagro, handed over to the prosecutor’s office of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. In the 79-page document entitled “Venezuela: the establishment of a regime of terror and generalized systematic persecution with the impunity of power and the interference of the Cuban regime” evidence is collected of the alleged violations of human rights committed “by the repressive government of Nicolás Maduro and the intelligence services of Havana”. The dossier contains testimonies from victims of illegal detention, torture and sexual violence “perpetrated by Cuban and Venezuelan officials”. Last March the International Criminal Court rejected the dismissal of the file on alleged abuses committed in Venezuela since 2014, guaranteeing the continuation of the investigations. (HANDLE).
