The police have ended their search for a 15-year-old girl from Orzesze (Silesia). Her body was found in the forest in Łaziska Górne. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the case. Previous findings indicated that the teenager could have been hit by a train. The search was launched after her backpack with documents was found on the tracks.

As the Mikołów police told us, the girl’s body was found by volunteer firefighters in the forest in Łaziska Górne. The officers did not provide information on whether the 15-year-old had any injuries or what the nature of death was.
The investigation into this case is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Mikołów. As prosecutor Alicja Domańska, deputy district prosecutor in Mikołów, told us, it was initiated under Article 151 of the Penal Code, which concerns “incitement or assistance to suicide”.
Whoever, by persuasion or by providing assistance, induces a human being to make an attempt on his own life, shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for a term of between 3 months and 5 years.
– The body was discovered using drones in a forest massif, near the tracks, in Łaziska Górne – the prosecutor said. She added that the girl was recognized by her family.
– Yesterday, the prosecutor inspected the place where the body was found. The body was secured for tests, and in the coming days, an autopsy will be performed on the girl, the main purpose of which will be to determine the cause of her death – prosecutor Domańska told us. She added that toxicological and histopathological tests will also be ordered.

– Only when we have full knowledge of the mechanism of death will it be possible to determine its cause – our interlocutor emphasized.
Investigators are not disclosing information on whether the 15-year-old had any injuries on her body, and if so, what they were. It is also not yet known whether the girl was actually hit by a train. The autopsy will also clarify that.
Also whether the girl took her own life. – It’s hard to say what happened, it’s too early in the investigation. We’re conducting activities with the family and the circle of closest people with whom the girl had contact and with whom she maintained contact. Backpack by the tracks
The Mikołów police received a report that someone had probably been hit by a train on Sunday (18 August). When the officers arrived at the scene, they did not find an injured person, but there was a backpack lying by the tracks, with the 15-year-old’s documents in it. The girl did not return home, there was no contact with her. A search was launched.
On Monday afternoon, the police posted a short message on social media: “Ladies and gentlemen, the search activities have been completed.”
– At the moment we are not providing any additional information – informed us Senior Constable Klaudia Mendera, deputy press officer of the Mikołów Police Headquarters.
A little later, the police supplemented the statement, adding that “the body of a 15-year-old girl has been found.”

Search for 15-year-old
The girl was searched for by dozens of police officers, the fire department and search teams. A drone and tracking dogs were used in the operation.
Junior cadet Izabela Kempka from the Mikołów police informed during the search: – The person who was allegedly hit was not found anywhere, so we really have no confirmed information whether she was actually hit or not. We only know from the cameras on the platform that it was the girl who left her backpack by the tracks. And thanks to that, we managed to determine that it was Marcelina.
The police also published a message asking for help in locating the teenager.
