Orsk dam break on April 5 – what is known about the situation in the city and victims after the flooding

The water level in the Ural River in Orsk became critical as of morning and is 9.27 meters, the city mayor said. According to experts, water from the flooded city will leave the city no earlier than in 1.5 – 2 weeks.

The mayor of Orsk also noted that half of the territory of the Old Town was flooded and there was a risk of isolating the microdistrict. At the same time, he noted that there were two damages to the dam in Orsk, one of which was able to stop the flow of water.

Also, according to local authorities, 2,556 residential buildings were flooded in the Orenburg region, and 4,208 people were evacuated. And in 31 districts of the Russian region, 47 bridges and 106 sections of highways were closed due to flooding.
