Emotions heated up again in the parliament during question time.
The opposition was once again able to challenge the ministers during the parliament’s question hour on Thursday. Among the topics that came up were the situation in Eastern Finland and the cuts in welfare areas.
The center Markku Siponen in the opinion of social security services, “billions will be loaded onto Turku’s one-hour train”.
Pekka Aittakumpu (Centre) said that the government is cutting “astronomical amounts” from social security services. This comment was received by the Prime Minister Petteri Orpon (kok) to get angry.
– That is a false truth, Orpo declared.
According to Orpo, the government does not cut social security, but increases social security funding by one billion euros every year.
Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuso (ps) was able to explain on several occasions what, according to him, can be cut from the sot.
According to Juuso, the funding model of the previous government is the reason for this situation, and according to him, the government has not encouraged cutting local services. However, according to the minister, we need to think about new ways to produce services.
– Can the administration be cut, and what about group money? Juuso asked.
“Not even the first one has come”
Chairman of the Left Alliance Li Andersson pointed out that the deficits did not arise as a result of social security reform, but were already in the municipalities’ finances. Now the difference is that the state is responsible for the financing of wars.
– For nine months, we have been waiting for measures to ease the situation in welfare areas. Not even the first one has arrived! Andersson scolded.
Minister of Municipalities and Regions Anna-Kaisa Ikonen (kok) reminded that next year there will be the first ex-post inspection of the funding of the welfare areas, when the funding will be corrected to reflect the real costs.
Juuso emphasized that the government is investing in the therapy guarantee for children and young people.
– When an old person has to go a long way in a Kela taxi, there is an option for a doctor or a nurse to visit the old person, he said.
According to Juuso, in order to ease the staffing shortage, the government is going through, among other things, whether it is possible to reduce the number of doctors’ reports. According to Minister Ikonen, the proposals of the working group that investigated the reduction of temporary labor will be implemented.
Juuso: “I hope there will be no more surgeries”
Chairman of the center Annika Saarikko criticized Minister Juuso that “you have given the Ministry of Finance the authority to cut your portfolio”.
– Of course, I hope that there won’t be any more surgeries on the social security side, but I can’t promise that, Juuso answered.
Chairman of the Greens Sofia Virta said that it is not enough for him that the minister hopes that the sote will not be cut.
In the first half of the question hour, the topic of discussion was the situation in Eastern Finland.
– For 9 months, you have done nothing, only set up a working group to find out. When are concrete actions coming to eastern Finland, when will it start to happen? Suna Kymäläinen (sd) asked.
Minister of Economic Affairs Will Rydman (ps) emphasized that the government is starting from gathering like-minded EU countries to influence the next program of the EU Commission, so that the eastern border becomes a priority area. According to Rydman, money has also been directed to Eastern Finland.
Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen (kok) assured that the government understands the impact of Eastern Finland’s vitality on security. In Häkkänen’s opinion, genuine business activity must be born in Eastern Finland and know-how in the region must be increased.
