Orna Detz celebrates the birthday of her late son Omar

About three weeks ago we were informed of the heartbreaking news that the eldest son of Orna and Moshe Detz, Omer, passed away after an epileptic attack at the age of only 30. The family wanted to keep their privacy and allow them to mourn the early death of their beloved son, and in the world of culture many actors and creators said goodbye to the late Omer.

This morning (Saturday) Orna uploaded a post to her Instagram account, where she shared that today was her son’s birthday alongside several photos of them together. In the photo that opens the album, she chose to put an emotional photo of herself with her son when he was little, hugging and wrapping him. In a short but heartbreaking text she wrote: “Today is my child’s birthday.”

As I recall, a day before his sudden death at the age of 30, Orna participated in an event in Emek Hefer, where she sang “Ama’s Love” and dedicated it to her son. In a statement on behalf of the family after his tragic untimely passing, it was stated: “Our eldest son Omer Detz was found dead today from an epileptic fit. The shock and pain are unbearable, we thank you for considering our private grief.”

Detz followed in his parents’ footsteps and was an actor and singer, a graduate of Yoram Levinstein’s arts studio, and even participated in the first season of “The Next Star” in 2013, where he came as a finalist. He has released two singles to radio and is working on a debut album containing original material. In an interview with mako magazine in 2013, Detz talked about his professional growth following his parents. “I don’t want to depend on my parents like a shadow, I want to go alone on an independent path.”
