Orna Detz breaks the heart: “Today is your birthday, my child”

Omer Datz was supposed to celebrate his 31st birthday last weekend, but fate had a different plan and the eldest son of Orna and Moshe Datz passed away a few weeks ago suddenly.

Detz died on March 21 from an attack of the epilepsy he suffered from, a disease also known as the fall disease, which is caused by a disturbance in the electrical conduction of the brain and causes convulsions and in extreme situations can cause death. Except for people especially close to him, he never shared about his illness and the astonishment was enormous.

His mother Orna Detz posted a heartbreaking post in honor of his birthday, which fell on April 13. She posted three photos, the first is of her and Omar as a child, hugging, with Omar looking straight at the camera while Orna hugs him, closes her eyes and brushes him off.

In the second photo, the grown-up Omar is seen in a contemporary photo, looking at the camera again with his blue eyes that are as clear as the swimming pool behind him. In the third photo, Omar is photographed with his mother in his adulthood, when she leans on his shoulder and rests her head on him.

Orna didn’t mince words, and wrote: “Today is your birthday, my child.” Four innocent words that crush the heart.

Orna and Moshe Detz divorced in 2006 after 21 years of marriage. In recent years the family has known quite a bit of sorrow, Orna’s brother died in tragic circumstances, her mother, Omar’s grandmother, passed away and he wrote: “She was my hero, my best friend, my psychologist, my chef and the one who raised me and knows me best.”

All we have left is to hope that Omar and his beloved grandmother are at least together now, and that the heartbroken family will know no more sorrow.
