It is no coincidence that so many economic meetings are concentrated in the same territory on the same day. This Thursday, November 16, the basin surrounding Orly airport in Val-de-Marne and Essonne is hosting two events dedicated to the players in this dynamic local ecosystem: the Orly Paris Entrepreneurship Meetings in Athis-Mons, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, then the Economic Development Conference of the Grand Orly Seine Bièvre conurbation, at the airport.
Is now the right time to start your business? How to “pitch” well to investors? How to find the ideal premises? These are the kinds of concrete questions that the Entrepreneurship Meetings will try to answer. This event will bring together nearly 80 partners: accountants, Urssaf, human resources professionals, etc. But also young companies from Essonne and Val-de-Marnaises having won awards in the past. They will tell about their success, the pitfalls encountered, how they got around them, etc.
New this year: a “pitch battle” will allow company creators to practice summarizing their activity or entrepreneurial project in front of professionals, from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Leaders, experts and the audience in the room will react and give their advice. “Knowing how to talk about your business in three seconds, three minutes and thirty minutes is essential,” underlines Sandra Linais, director of the Orly International association which organizes the event.
The arrival at 10:45 a.m. of a leader like no other should also attract visitors: Laurent Grandguillaume. He runs Freeland, a platform connecting freelance professionals and businesses and which generates more than 300 million euros in turnover per year. He was also a PS deputy from 2012 to 2017 and notably launched the Territories zero long-term unemployed system.
Five strategic land properties identified
From 5:30 p.m., head to terminal 4 of Paris-Orly airport for the Grand Orly Seine Bièvre Economic Development Conference. The organizers will celebrate the announcement made on November 9 by the Minister for Industry, Roland Lescure: the agglomeration is selected for the second phase of the “Territories of Industry” system (2023-2027).
Objective: thanks to “reinforced support in engineering and financing”, the State will be able to support the productive projects of Grand Orly Seine Bièvre, which will offer “five strategic sites ready to welcome industry at the gates of Paris”.
These are the former EDF and Air Liquide sites in Ardoines in Vitry-sur-Seine (42 hectares), the former Renault factory in Choisy-le-Roi (15 hectares), the Carelle industrial zone surrounding the dock Villeneuve-le-Roi where a river innovation cluster could be developed (10 hectares), the Triage railway site in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges where a multimodal logistics hub and productive activities is envisaged (20 hectares) and, finally, the Cœur d’Orly ADP zone in Paray-Vieille-Poste which plans a metropolitan industrial campus (24 hectares).
On the program for these meetings: round tables, projects village, cocktail dinner, networking… For example, the general director of Air France Industries, Géry Mortreux, will come and explain why he chose to invest 30 million euros in Orly to redevelop their aircraft engine maintenance workshops.
Health, the circular economy and sustainable food will also be addressed by Stéphane Layani, president of Semmaris which manages the Rungis market, Pierre Garzon, mayor of Villejuif and president of the developer Sadev 94 which is in the process of to bring out the ZAC Campus Grand Parc in Villejuif, or even one of the leaders of the Paris Saclay Cancer Campus.
Here, we will talk about reindustrialization of this territory, which extends from Ivry-sur-Seine to Viry-Châtillon via Choisy-le-Roi and Villejuif. Elected officials and local stakeholders wish to develop the productive capacities of these municipalities, in particular carbon-free and high value-added production.
