Polish Oil Concern “Orlen” asks its customers to refuel fuel only for current needs, which will translate into a return to full availability of fuel products at “Orlen” stations – this will allow you to quickly and fully rebuild supplies at all stations.

We appeal to drivers not to refuel “in advance” and not to duplicate fake news. Let us recall that on the day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, on Thursday, February 24, rumors appeared in the social media that after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, fuel would be available for the military.

Disinformation appeared, among others, on Facebook. “Gas stations must have a fuel reserve for the military, so refuel while you can, because there is no more oil at many stations” – we read on one of the forums. Another Facebook user writes: “My cousin was at 5 stations and there is no fuel anywhere and people are standing in lines for half an hour.” The drivers took the refueling by storm, prices soared at many stations in Poland. Daniel Obajtek, the president of PNK “Orlen”, took the floor, and his message cooled down emotions. The content about possible fuel shortages on Facebook is sent by the same group that is responsible for anti-vaccine content – informed the Institute for Internet and Social Media Research.

Dishonest owners of petrol stations who took advantage of the temporary increase in demand for fuels and raised prices without justifiable reason were punished with termination of the contract with PKN “Orlen”. “We will immediately terminate the contract with this station, as well as with any other recipient of our fuels or the operator of the station using our signboard, who will try to use the current situation to unfair practices and manipulate fuel prices” – such a tweet was posted by Daniel Obajtek, president of PKN “Orlen”.

PKN “Orlen” ensures that the fuel reserves in Poland are not endangered. – We are safe, because over the last six years we have carried out activities aimed at the diversification of raw material supplies – said Daniel Obajtek in the company’s press release at the end of February. According to the president of PKN “Orlen”, in 2013, Russian oil accounted for 98 percent. processed in Płock, and today its share in the throughput is less than half. “Raw material is supplied on an ongoing basis, in accordance with long-term and spot contracts. Wholesale is also carried out. sale of fuels“- emphasized PKN Orlen. The company admitted that” it is observing the situation in Ukraine and is prepared for various scenarios “.
