– We would like the Orlen logotype to appear in Hungary as soon as possible, althat it is realistically possible at the beginning of next year. However, when these 144 stations in Hungary are branded with our logo, Poles will already be able to refuel on Orlen in six countries – said Janusz Szewczak, member of the Orlen management board, during a press conference where the company presented its financial results for the second quarter.
Remedies
Orlen’s entry into the Hungarian market is the result of concluding an agreement with MOL, which it envisages the Hungarian company takes over 417 Lotos petrol stations in Poland. In return, Orlen will receive 144 stations in Hungary from 41 stations in Slovakia and several hundred million dollars.
This transaction is part of the so-called remedial measures designated by the European Commission, which were a condition for the takeover of Grupa Lotos by the Płock concern.
