Upgraded to the cadet category, Orlanne Clouet (15) won a bronze medal in the relay during the regional youth championshipslast week in Saint-Renan.
The athlete licensed to the Entente Poitiers Athlétisme 86 participated in the Pointes d’or Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Saturday July 9, 2022, at the Paul-Rebeilleau stadium in Poitiers. The opportunity to look back on his season, his career, his goals.
A particularly busy year
The excellent performances of Orlanne Clouet during her first year in minimal allowed her to access the higher category. Playing on two tables did not affect his performance. “Being part of the cadet team is a great source of pride. Especially in the relay, a discipline that I particularly like. This experience is a bit like a taste of what awaits me next year. »
His performance at the Pointes d’Or
“The goal was to improve my time over 80 meters. During the last competitions, I stagnated a lot on my time. I am quite satisfied overall with a good performance in this discipline (10”55). I was able to get closer to my record (10’52) with a nice long board (4’75). »
National Golden Points
Last year, Orlanne Clouet took part in the national Pointes d’Or finals. She was close to joining this competition this season. “Not having access to the national Pointes d’or is not a disappointment. Unlike last year, I was not thirsty for performance. Extra-sporting problems have impacted my results, my self-confidence. I gave myself the strength to go to training. Athletics, even if there is competition, is above all to relax. »
His journey
“My family has always had a foot in sport. My grandfather was part of the French cross country team. I hope he would be proud of my performances today, even if he would have preferred to see me evolve in triathlon, his favorite discipline. » Orlanne’s family background naturally influenced his desire to join an athletics club. But it is not the only reason. “In CM1 I started this sport on the advice of a psychologist. I went through a difficult period where I had to deal with school bullying. However, I was not athletic at all, but I was already running faster than all the boys in my school. »
Coach’s word
The future educator of EPA 86, Toarii Zahn, wants to be confident for the future of the young nugget. “I am aware of Orlanne’s enormous potential. When I look at the goals on paper, I see her going very far. But we have to keep our feet on the ground so as not to skip the stages. She will take a step during the transition from minimal to cadets with a new training group, new sporting conditions to which she will have to adapt. »
No time to rest. Orlanne Clouet already has her head turned towards the next deadlines. With a potential qualification for the French relay championship, in Mulhouse, next weekend.
