Mask on the face, tourists found Friday the rides at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida, the first of many large amusement parks to reopen in the state after their forced closure by the pandemic of new coronavirus almost there three months.
The park had been closed on March 15 to prevent the spread of the virus, and only reopened on Friday at 35% of its capacity.
The new rules include temperature controls at the entrance and compulsory wearing of masks. Symbols have been placed on the ground to facilitate physical distance, and signs thank visitors for their help “in these new times”.
A virtual queue system has also been added to prevent visitors from queuing next to each other.
“There aren’t too many people. I can go from one ride to another without having to wait 40 minutes or an hour, ”said one of the first visitors, Terrence Wilson, 19, to the local newspaper Orlando Sentinel.
Legoland Park is scheduled to reopen on Monday in the city of Winter Haven, and Sea World, also in Orlando, on June 10.
The largest amusement park in the region, Walt Disney World, is due to reopen on July 11.
