Orlando is in Rome for now but is already involved in politics in the Region: “Willing to discuss a law on land consumption with Bucci”

Genova. Andrea Orlando has not yet resolved his reservations about his future – he will remain as a parliamentarian or return to Liguria as head of the opposition in the regional council – but in the meantime, as promised, the battle continues against the centre-right political model which he has failed to undermine at the polls.

And today he sends some messages to the new president of the Liguria Region Marco Bucci. One is confrontational and concerns land consumption: “In his first remarks, President Bucci called into question a regional law that we wanted to present in the event of victory to limit land consumption, saying that we would like to build dams made of sticks and we wouldn’t want to regiment the rivers, things that have nothing to do with our proposal,” says Orlando.

“If you want, we will discuss it together – states the PD deputy – I am available because we had defined the structure of that law and it is a provision that simply works to prevent other soil from being waterproofed and also limits interventions, especially in urban areas, to re-environmentalisation as a condition to partially contain the effect of climate change and calamitous events which unfortunately have occurred for many years”.

Orlando makes other considerations “in view of the formal start of the regional legislature in Liguria – he reflects – I would have waited for that moment if some things had not already happened that are worthy of some reflection and the first concerns an oddity, the majority meets to form the Council, as is normal, as is physiological, and the president of another region participates in this majority meeting. An oddity which, however, conflicts with the idea of the full autonomy of a region like ours. This won’t be the subject of controversy, but it arouses some curiosity.”

The last “most serious” consideration on which I spend very few words is this – concludes the Dem exponent – “I saw that the discussion is on the implementation of the regional council. Bucci said that “we need undersecretaries”. Well, I would say that perhaps we need more nurses and more doctors in Liguria and I think it is appropriate to have a discussion on this”, concludes Orlando.
