This is not a first. This Tuesday, during the traditional Draft lottery, the first choice of the next Draft was awarded to the Orlando Magic franchise. Consequently, this formation will thus have the honor of being chosen by the best young players of this 2022 edition, scheduled no later than next Thursday, June 23. At the end of this 2021-22 regular season, the Florida franchise had taken last place in the Eastern Conference standings. Regarding this future Draft, after the Orlando Magic, the franchise to choose next will then be the Oklahoma City Thunder, before seeing the Houston Rockets succeed it, then the Sacramento Kings.
The Magic will have this first choice for the fourth time
On the occasion of this famous Draft 2022, some names of great university hopefuls are already circulating and are therefore expected to animate it. Among these famous “prospects”, there are thus several interiors, namely Jabari Smith (Auburn), Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga), Paolo Banchero (Duke) or even Jaden Ivey (Purdue). As for the Orlando Magic, this will be the fourth time the franchise has had this famous number one pick. In 1992, it was Shaquille O’Neal who was then chosen in first position in the Draft of that year, followed, no later than the following year, in 1993, by Chris Webber. Finally, during the year 2004, it was then Dwight Howard who had been chosen, too, in first position.
